The steps, in order
Install it for whatever you have
Phones and Android televisions take it from Google Play. A Firestick needs the Downloader sideload, set out step by step in the Firestick guide. Tizen and webOS sets list it in their own stores as IPTV Smarters. Apple hardware calls it IPTV Smarters Player. Desktop installers come from the developer site rather than any store.
Take the Xtream option, not M3U
Accept the terms, then choose Login with Xtream Codes API. Ignore the M3U route unless support has specifically sent you there: Xtream pulls the guide and the on-demand library down by itself, and M3U frequently does not, which leaves you with a very long list and no schedule attached to it.
Enter the three values
Any profile name. Then the username, password and server URL exactly as sent, keeping the http:// and the port. Tap Add User. If it is refused once, type rather than paste: text copied out of a chat window routinely carries an invisible trailing space that no error message will mention.
Wait for the guide, then switch it on
It downloads channels, on-demand titles and schedule data, and the guide can take several minutes to fill properly. Do not judge it in the first thirty seconds. Under Settings, then EPG, enable "Enable EPG on live TV" so the schedule shows while a channel is playing.
Set the decoder
Settings, Player settings, built-in player with hardware decoding. This is the setting that decides whether modest hardware copes. If one channel misbehaves while everything else is fine, change that single channel to software decoding from the player menu rather than altering the global setting and upsetting the rest.
Do the other screens
The same three values work everywhere, so the second and third devices take about two minutes each. Most households set up a phone and a tablet at this point as well, which costs nothing extra provided the plan covers however many streams actually run at the same time.
Turn the guide overlay on before you need it
Under Settings, then EPG, enable the schedule on live television. Without it you are changing channels blind, which on a list of this size means guessing. It is a thirty-second change that most people never find, and it accounts for a good share of the complaints that the app feels basic compared with TiViMate. The gap between the two is real but it is smaller than it appears once this is switched on, and on hardware where TiViMate will not run it is the difference between usable and not.
What usually goes wrong on this device
It says the account has expired
Nothing is broken; the term has ended. Renew on WhatsApp and the same credentials resume within minutes. There is no reinstall, nothing to reconfigure, and the favourites you built survive.
The login succeeds but the list is empty
Pull to refresh, then sign out and back in. If it stays bare the server address is wrong somewhere, and the port is the usual culprit. A login accepted with no channels almost always means the app reached a server, just not ours.
It keeps closing on a Firestick
Clear its cache under Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, then reopen. If it persists, remove it and install a current build: an old APK on updated Fire OS is a common cause. A stick with no free storage does this too.
The guide times are wrong
Smarters takes the time zone from the device rather than the account, so a tablet still set to another region lists everything at the wrong hour. Fix the device clock rather than hunting for a setting inside the app.
The on-demand section is empty but live television works
That combination almost always means the account was added as an M3U playlist rather than an Xtream login. Remove the profile and add it again through Login with Xtream Codes API, and the library appears. It is the single most common misconfiguration in this app.
Knowing when to move to a different player
Smarters is deliberately the safe default rather than the best experience, and there is a point at which staying with it costs you. The signals are consistent: you find yourself scrolling to locate a channel you watch regularly, the guide feels like a list rather than a schedule, or you want two things on screen at once. If the device runs Android, that is the moment to try TiViMate, and the switch costs nothing but a download because the credentials are identical. If the device is Apple, Samsung or LG, TiViMate does not exist and the honest options are iPlayTV on Apple, or accepting Smarters as it is. Before concluding the app is the problem, though, enable the guide overlay described above: a good share of people who think they need a different player simply have not turned that on.

Why is it empty when I open it?
Because that is what every player in this category does. The app holds no channels of its own and displays nothing until a subscription is entered as an Xtream login. Installing it and finding it bare is the expected behaviour, not a fault, and it is the single most common first-day message we receive.
Is it really free?
On every platform, and it always has been. Providers commission branded builds of it, which is the business model; the public build costs nothing and never charges inside the app. If something is asking you for money inside it, you have a different app.
Smarters or TiViMate?
Smarters costs nothing, asks less and runs everywhere, which matters when a household has mixed hardware. TiViMate answers with a far better guide plus recording and multi-view, for about $10 a year, and only on Android. Start here and move if the guide starts to annoy you.
Can several people use the same account?
They can install it anywhere and sign in with the same three values. What is shared is the stream limit rather than the installation, so a one-stream plan means one person watching at a time. Multi-stream plans exist for exactly this and cost considerably less than a second subscription.
Why do some providers ship their own branded version?
Because the developer licenses branded builds, which is the business model that keeps the public version free. A branded build is the same app with a logo and a preloaded server address. Ours is the ordinary public build, and there is nothing you gain or lose either way.
